The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) is a national information system designed to provide access to education-related literature. ERIC was established in 1966 and is supported by the U.S. Department of Education.

The ERIC database is the world's largest source of educational information. It contains abstracts of documents and journal articles on education research and practice. It fully indexes The NAMTA Journal as well as other Montessori publications, dissertations, conference presentations, and research papers. Most public and academic libraries provide access to ERIC for their patrons.

The database can be searched in a variety of ways, including by topic or keyword. Your local library's reference department can assist you in searching the ERIC database either online, on CD-ROM, or in print. For more information on ERIC services, call 1-800-LET ERIC.

Also available is the ERIC Document Reproduction Service (EDRS), which can provide full-text copies of most of the documents ERIC indexes. For price or ordering information, call 1-800-443-ERIC.

Sixteen subject-specific Clearinghouses make up the ERIC system. Documents and articles related to Montessori education are handled by the ERIC Clearinghouse on Elementary and Early Childhood Education (ERIC/EECE):
