Teacher Training
The Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) oversees Montessori teacher training at affiliated institutions on four continents.
Each course includes developmental psychology, Montessori theory, and practical, hands-on classroom training, as well as observation and practice teaching under training center guidance in approved, AMI-staffed Montessori classrooms. AMI training courses last a minimum of one academic year and are full-time courses of study. Some AMI courses are offered over a period of two or three consecutive summers, with interim work. A bachelor's degree is required for admission to U.S. courses, but some exceptions are made based upon the applicant's background and goals. AMI courses qualify for graduate credit in education at selected colleges and universities; details are available from each training center.
