Sustainability refers to hands-on, real world projects that impact on the neighborhood environment and beyond; this approach to education increases academic engagement and community relevance, and therefore increases the institutional sustainability of the school. Local private and public schools will model how they implement collaborative, place-based approaches. Antioch University New England (a major higher education research center for sustainability), the National Center for Montessori in Public Sector, and the Avanti Montessori Charter Management Organization will provide their expertise on implementing public Montessori. Learn the essentials of start-up, quality assurance, funds development, facility rehab, assessment, and environmental considerations.
